In the communities we serve, waterborne diseases like cholera, typhoid, and dysentery are the leading cause of childhood illness. Children miss school. Parents lose work days caring for sick family members. The cycle of poverty tightens around every drop of unsafe water.
But here's what we know from 12 years of work on the ground: a single well can transform an entire village. When clean water is within walking distance of homes, school attendance rises by an average of 35%. Hospital visits for waterborne illness drop by over 60%. Women and girls — who traditionally carry water — reclaim hours each day for education, work, and rest.
