Cliffs, cold water, warm bread. Casa do Farol sits at the edge of the Algarve, where the last beam of the old lighthouse now falls across a salt-white pool.
Rates from €340 / night, breakfast at the lighthouse included. No resort fees — ever.
The house
The keeper's house at Ponta da Piedade has guided ships past the same cliffs for 150 years. We restored it room by room — lime plaster, cork floors, the original lantern room left exactly as it was — and opened it to nine guests at a time. That's it. That's the whole hotel.
There is no front desk. There is a kitchen, a pool cut into the cliff, a sauna above the tide line, and Marta, who has kept this house for forty years and still walks the shore at dawn. Mornings begin with bread from the oven in Lagos; evenings end wherever the light says they should.

Two quieter rooms among the olive trees, a short path from the cliff. The right choice if you'd rather hear birds than waves — and still see the beam at night.

Salt water, heated by the sun, twenty-one metres above the tide. The cedar sauna sits at the top of the headland — go at dusk, come down for dinner.
Dinner at the table
One long table, one menu, whatever the boats brought in that morning. Chef Rui works out of the old signal room; the wine list is short and from the Douro.
The dawn walk
Marta walks the coves before the day starts — cliff paths, hidden coves, and the famous rock arches while the light is still low. Bread and coffee after, always.
Boats & the old beam
A 1968 sailboat is moored below the cliff for guests. And each night at 21:00, the original lens still turns — we turn it on for you.
Finding us
We're on the headland at Ponta da Piedade, a ten-minute walk from the old town of Lagos — whitewashed streets, a 13th-century harbour, and the best pastéis de nata on the coast.
We arrange car hire, private transfers, and boat day-trips to the Berlenga Islands. Tell us when you book.

From the guest book
"We came for four nights and stayed six. Watching the beam come on at nine, from the pool, with the water below going completely black — I haven't had a moment like that in years."
