Ember Pour-Over Set — hand-thrown stoneware dripper with carafe and two cups Hand-thrown · Kyoto Batch 04 / 40

Each glaze pools differently in the kiln — your piece will vary slightly from the photos. That's the point.

A hand-thrown stoneware dripper, borosilicate carafe and two cups, fired to cone 12 in a Kyoto workshop. The spiral-ribbed cone slows the pour and keeps the bed flat, so the last drop tastes like the first. Signed and numbered under the base — batch 04 of 40.

The craft

Thrown, not molded.

Every set begins as a lump of Shigaraki stoneware on a kick wheel in a workshop that has fired the same kiln for three generations. The spiral ribs on the cone aren't decoration — they slow the pour and keep the coffee bed flat, so extraction stays even from first drop to last.

Batches run to forty pieces. When a batch is gone, it's gone — the glaze is mixed by hand and never repeated exactly.

The pour finally makes sense

I've cycled through three glass drippers and this is the first one where the spiral ribs actually do something. Water slows, swirls, and the bed flattens on its own. My morning cup tastes like the café version of itself.

Heavy in the best way

The stoneware is dense and the glaze pools beautifully at the rim. You can feel the batch number stamped under the base — I'm 04/40. It feels like an object, not a gadget. My kitchen finally has a centerpiece.

Survived a drop, still perfect

Dropped the carafe on tile from about a foot — not a chip. The oak collar is a lovely, unexpected detail. Only wish the cups were a touch bigger, but that's on me. Shipping to the UK took four days, beautifully packed.

Before you ask

Questions, answered

The carafe and cups are fine in the dishwasher. We recommend hand-washing the dripper to keep the spiral ribs' glaze at its best — a soft sponge and warm water is all it needs.

The 600 ml carafe holds about four 120 ml cups, or two generous 240 ml pours. The dripper is sized for a 01–04 cup brew — 12 to 24 g of coffee.

It happens about once in 300. Photograph the box and the piece, message us within 48 hours, and a replacement ships free. The 2-year crack guarantee covers everyday use after that.

Yes — carbon-neutral, tracked service to 40+ countries. EU orders arrive in 3–5 days; the rest of the world in 5–9. Duties are included at checkout for the US, EU, UK and AU.

At checkout, tick "add a gift note" and we'll handwrite it on a card with the batch number. We also wrap in kraft paper and wax-seal on request — no extra charge.
